During World War II she participated in the resistance to the German and Italian occupation of Greece and jailed by the Italians for these activities. After the war, in 1946, she went to London on a scholarship tp study. In 1953 she married Dr. Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin. He died in 1955 and she returned to Greece in 1963, just four years before the Junta took over Greece in a bloodless coup. Within these four years she became a medical doctor.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHer book includes detailed accounts of the activities which made her a target of the Junta. She was arrested for acts of abotage, tried in a Junta court, and forced to return to London.
