America in the 1890s: the young, beautiful Carrie leaves her village in search of a better life in the city. At first, she takes a job in a shoe factory. She soon discovers that there is an easier way to live the American dream. She begins to succumb to the compliments and gifts of a patron. This path will lead her to her social advancement.
