MANI - Colonel Leake in the Mani

This book by Martin Jones adds additional information to Colonel Leake's time in the Mani in 1805. Leake's book was published in 1830 as 'Travels in the Morea'. 

Here Martin Jones's abridgement, presents the reader with an account of the life and customs of a unique but little known part of Greece which, despite Turkish domination, had managed to maintain its independence. 

Travellers to Mani today can follow in Leake's footsteps since the area is still sufficiently unspoiled for the for them to observe, two centuries later, the villages and scenery which he so expertly describes.
