Etruscan Cities and Rome
Etruscan Cities and Rome
By H. H., Scullard /
Published by Johns Hopkins University Press,
ISBN 9780801860720
In this volume, the author examines the cities of Etruria, the dominant power on the Italian peninsula just prior to the ascendancy of Rome. Though eventually conquered by the Romans, the Etruscans exerted enormous influence on Roman political and social institutions. Etrurian cities were actually quite distinct from each other however, each having a character all its own.
Scullard discusses the mysterious origins of these people, then examines each city individually, and finally, discusses the relations between Etruria and ancient Rome.
Second Hand. Former library copy. Some wear to dust jacket, and inscriptions inside. Otherwise good.
