Each page of this Genesis 1-11 commentary contains 8-12 lines of text from the Greek Septuagint or Latin Vulgate (Jerome’s Vulgate) with all corresponding vocabulary and grammatical notes arranged below the text in English. Below are the text editions, which have been used with expressed permission:
Septuaginta, ed. A. Rahlfs and R. Hanhart (2006)
Biblia Sacra Iuxta Vulgatam Versionem, ed. R. Weber and R. Gryson, (2007)
The Greek text and English commentary are on the even pages, and the corresponding Latin text and English commentary are on the facing odd pages. The vocabulary includes all words occurring four times or fewer, organized alphabetically, while the grammatical notes are arranged according to verse numbers. Together, this book has been designed so that, once readers have mastered the core vocabulary lists, they will be able to rely solely on the commentary and not need to turn a page or consult dictionaries as they read.
