The textbook “Greek for You” B1 is part of the bilingual series for learning Modern Greek as a second/foreign language “Greek for You” for teenagers and adults. This bilingual material facilitates classroom teaching and at the same time can be used for self study. The “Greek for You” series is addressed to: 1. Students at universities abroad, 2. Students at secondary schools, 3. Immigrants in Greece, 4. Greek immigrants returning to Greece, as well as 2nd, 3rd, etc. generation Greeks abroad. The material of the B1 textbook complies with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR and the requirements set by the Centre for the Greek Language for the B1 Greek Language Certificate Ellinomatheia B1, as conducted by the Centre for the Greek Language. B1 is the level at which the knowledge acquired in the previous levels A1 and A2 is consolidated and can be used by students confidently and with self assurance to communicate in Greek. The student becomes independent as he detaches himself from the text and can more easily use the extensive vocabulary he has acquired by using appropriate morphological structures. In developing this course material we have combined different teaching strategies; the communicative one is the predominant one.
