Today the Temples and Shrines of Ancient Greece are in ruins: ruins which testify to a religious life that was rich and glorious. It is to reveal the Art and Architecture of these noble buildings, as well as the religious influences that helped to form them, that Professor Max Hirmer and two eminent historians, Dr Helmut Berve and Dr Gottfried Gruben, have combined forces to produce a majestic visual record of the monuments of the entire Greek World, fully supported by an authoritative and learned text.
