Menander A Commentary

The late Professor A. W. Gomme had prepared a commentary on the plays of Menander partially preserved in the Cairo codex. This has been revised and extended by Professor Sandbach to include all those texts printed in Menander : Reliquiae Selectae (1972).

This needs of undergraduates have been kept in mind, but it is hoped that scholars too will find the commentary useful. The prime concern of the notes is with the explanation of the text, never forgetting that it is the text of a dramatic performance. Readings are discussed where there is doubt.
