Edited with an introduction by Michael Moran.

This is a collection of documents comprising (1) Rauf Denktash's eleven speeches to the UN Security Council from 1964 to 1996 and (2) twelve other important documents on the Cyprus issue from 1960 to 1996. In a one hundred page introduction the editor discusses the Turkish Cypriots' loss of their constitutional rights between 1963-65, with much information on proceedings at the UN, and how the Greek Cypriot administration came to be recognised as the Government of the Republic of Cyprus. He also examines the background to the Turkish military intervention in 1974 , the establishment of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus and, subsequently, of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 1983. A source book for understanding the Cyprus conflict.
