The Fabric of the Ancient Theatre

In 1996 Diana Wood Conroy took up work as artist-in-residence at the excavation of the Hellenistic-Roman theatre complex at Fabrika Hill in Paphos, Cyprus.

She describes this as a tranformative experience in her life, the thread that runs through these journals and the inspiration that led her to explore the ancient theatres of the same period in Egypt, Greece and Turkey. The Fabric of the Ancient Theatre is an imaginative journey through the evolution of the theatre that uncovers the complex and layered world of the Eastern Mediterranean, both ancient and modern.
