The Parthenon Frieze

These photographs have been specially taken in Athens, from the slabs still on the Acropolis, in Paris, Vienna and in the British Museum London, where much of the frieze is preserved among the Elgin Marbles. The introduction gives a concise and lucid account of the historical background and of the frieze as a whole, while the extensive captions to each slab describe and interpret the scenes and individual figures.
