The Seventh Garment - Eugenia Fakinou

Through the lives of three women, the contemporary history of Greece is told - from the war of independence waged against the Turks in the 1820s to the dictatorship of the Colonels in 1967-74. The novel begins and ends with the "The Tree", a mystical force of nature that links the experiences of the elder women to the world of Greek myth and to more recent folklore and beliefs.
