THOMAS HOPE (1769-1831) Pictures from 18th Century Greece

Thomas Hope 1769-1831 was a spectacular and controversial figure in English society during the Regency period. Hope made an extensive tour of the Mediterranean and Greece during the  last decade of the 18th century. 

This publication reveals for the first time all the drawings of Greek subjects included in his collections. It is a pictorial inventory, executed with quality and authenticity, which adds significantly to our knowledge of 18th century Greece.
